According to the president's office here, Musharraf gave the assurance at a meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa in China on the sidelines of
the multilateral Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) annual conference.
'President Musharraf reiterated his country's opposition to terrorism in all its manifestations and assured Sri Lanka of all assistance to defeat terrorism in the country,'
an official source here said.

Indian Navy, ICG to intensify surveillanceRamanathapuram, Apr 10 (UNI)
The Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has decided to intensify air and sea surveillance along the coastline to thwart smuggling activities to Sri Lanka and prevent infiltration of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) militants into Indian territorial waters in the wake of escalation of
battle between the Lankan forces and the LTTE.
A senior official of the ICG, who did not want to be named told UNI here this evening that a decision to this effect was taken at a high-level 'Special Coastal Meeting'
held here for the first time following increase in smuggling activities to Sri Lanka from the coastal villages of Tamil Nadu.
Considering Ramanathapuram town's close proximity to Sri Lanka, it was decided to further tighten inshore and onshore coastal security, supported by air and sea
surveillance by the ICG and Indian Navy, he said.
The meeting chaired by ADGP of ICG Jegan Mohan Seshadri reviewed the security of the 1076 mile long coastline in Tamil Nadu. It was decided to intensify
surveillance in 21 unmanned islands between Sri Lanka and India to prevent the activities of anti-social elements and also over the 591 coastal villages and hamlets in Tamil Nadu.
The State police have been advised to properly screen the Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka, as there was possibility of LTTE militants sneaking into the State in the
guise of refugees. It was also decided to hold a joint patrolling of ICG and Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department officials once in a week, the official said.
He said necessary steps would be taken to prevent Indian fishermen from crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and trespassing into Sri Lankan
territorial waters resulting in the firing by the Lankan navy.
The meeting decided to issue token system for the first time to out board engine fitted Vallams (boats) for fishing activities with immediate effect, he added.

Sri Lanka Trincomalee market re-built by US, Greece
April 10, 2008 (LBO) – Economic activity in Sri Lanka's eastern port city of Trincomalee is set to revive after a public market was re-built by the United States and
Greek aid, the US Embassy in Colombo said.
The refurbished Anuradhapura junction public market in Trincomalee was opened this month. The rebuilding of the public market was funded by a joint grant of 700,000 US dollars from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and
HELLENIC AID, the foreign aid arm of the Greek government.
"We hope that the rebuilding of this market will be a symbol of the revitalization of Trincomalee," USAID Mission Director, Rebecca Cohn said in a statement.
"USAID is committed to helping restore peace, prosperity and good local governance to the people of the East.
"This market is just one of many investments that we have made and will continue to make to help the East benefit from and contribute to the economic growth that
Sri Lanka as a whole is experiencing," Cohn was quoted as saying.
The chief of HELLENIC AID to Sri Lanka says the rebuilding of the market will "contribute to the stable and peaceful cooperation of the entire community of Trincomalee."
The entire eastern and southern coasts of the island was hit by a tsunami in 2004.
USAID says it will complete a 134.5 million US dollar tsunami recovery effort this year.
U.S. tsunami recovery projects include the construction of a new bridge over Arugam Bay, a water supply system in Pottuvil in the east and upgrading of fishery
harbours of Hikkaduwa, Mirissa and Dondra in the southern coast of the island.
