May 19, Colombo:
A special delegation of the United Kingdom's All Party Parliamentary Committee on Sri Lanka's Ethnic Problem is due in Sri Lanka in the coming weeks in an attempt to restart the collapsed peace process between the government and LTTE.
The delegation will hold talks with both parties. The Parliamentary Committee is organizing a special peace conference in London with the hope of finding a solution to the conflict. Both the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE will be invited, together with the peace process facilitator, Norway, diplomatic sources said.
The UK All Party Parliamentary Committee on Sri Lanka’s Ethnic Problem was set up on May 2, and the UK government decided to suspend some funds to Sri Lanka to put pressure on the government to return to peace talks.
